Photoprotection: an analysis of habits and knowledge among individuals from the population of Rio de Janeiro

Skin cancer is a disease with a representative prevalence in Brazil and, in recent years, the number of cases has increased. Currently, cutaneous carcinoma is considered a public health problem because it represents a high social and economic cost for the patient and the health system. Understand the sun protection habits and knowledge about the photoexposure of the population to help establish and health education strategies to prevent its complication and complications. Photoeducation is extremely important for the maintenance of the population's health and must have the support of all health professionals. In this sense, the study aimed to analyze the habits and knowledge of the population of Rio de Janeiro regarding the use of sunscreen. The results showed that most sunscreens do not have an adjustment function. In addition, the participants protect with a relationship between the level of education and the gender of the photo habits. It is concluded that there is a need to raise the population's awareness of the risks of sun exposure, with health actions, in a way that will increase the need to increase the effectiveness of all patients.
