Health education in the waiting room of a primary health car unit: Experience report

The objective of this study was to report the experience of medical students in carrying out an educational activity on cervical cancer in the waiting room of a basic health unit, highlighting its importance in preventing and encouraging preventive examinations. This is a descriptive study, of the experience report type, the activity was carried out by medical students under the guidance of the preceptor, the approach involved clarification about risk factors, importance of the Pap smear, prevention with HPV vaccine, symptoms and treatment. The results showed that the public had a significant participation, with intense interaction and clarification of questions. several participants expressed interest in scheduling the Pap smear. It is concluded that the educational action in the waiting room was efficient in raising awareness about cervical cancer, encouraging prevention and strengthening the connection between the health team and the community.
