COVID-19 en el noreste de Brasil: características preliminares de muertes

Resumen

Objetivo: describe las características de las muertes en la región noreste de Brasil. Métodos: un estudio descriptivo basado en boletines epidemiológicos publicados por los departamentos de salud de cada estado en el noreste sobre los casos de COVID-19, hasta el 20 de julio de 2020, se calculó la tasa de mortalidad, un conjunto de muertes mayores de 60 años , sexo y presencia o no de comorbilidad, además de un análisis individual por estado de las enfermedades asociadas más comunes. Resultados: Ceará fue el estado con la mayor cantidad de casos y muertes, y Piauí con la menor cantidad de casos y muertes, la tasa de mortalidad de la región es del 3.6%. La mayoría de las muertes en la región fueron hombres con más 60 años, con alguna comorbilidad asociada, principalmente enfermedades cardiovasculares, seguida de diabetes mellitus. Conclusión: las características muestran similitudes en comparación con los resultados preliminares vistos en otros lugares del mundo.
