Manifestaciones orales detectadas en pacientes con COVID-19: una revisión integradora

Resumen

El objetivo de esta revisión integradora consiste en verificar si las manifestaciones orales detectadas en pacientes con COVID-19 son útiles en el diagnóstico de la enfermedad, si son una manifestación resultante de la enfermedad o si existe evidencia de que no existe correlación entre las patologías. Se realizaron búsquedas de artículos en las bases de datos PubMed, Lilacs, Scopus, Science Direct, Web of Science y Embase, además de la búsqueda en literatura gris. Los términos utilizados en la búsqueda fueron: "COVID-19" o "Sars-Cov-2" o "coronavirus" y "afecciones bucales" o "salud bucal" o "manifestaciones bucales" y "diagnóstico / complicaciones" o "síntomas". Así, se seleccionaron 1305 artículos, de los cuales se seleccionaron 61 para componer esta revisión. La mayoría de los estudios incluidos consideraron los síntomas orales como cambios en el gusto, xerostomía y lesiones ulcerativas en la mucosa oral y labial. Todos los síntomas relacionados con esta patología aún necesitan más estudios e investigaciones para que se esclarezcan por completo todos los mecanismos y manifestaciones relacionados con ella.
