Las propiedades antimicrobianas del extracto glicólico de Casearia sylvestris Sw. en biofilm monotípico de cepas de Candida albicans y Candida glabrata

Resumen

Objetivos: La resistencia de los microorganismos al uso indebido de medicamentos es actualmente uno de los problemas de salud pública, por lo que es necesaria la investigación de compuestos naturales con actividad antimicrobiana, como Casearia sylvestris. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo evaluar la actividad antimicrobiana del extracto glicólico de Casearia sylvestris sobre cepas estándar de Candida albicans (ATCC 18804) y Candida glabrata (ATCC 9030) en cultivos planctónicos, verificando la concentración mínima inhibitoria y la concentración mínima de microbicida (MIC y CMM) y también su acción sobre biopelículas. Metodología: El extracto glicólico de C. sylvestris, de origen comercial, se obtuvo a una concentración de 200 mg / ml (20%) eluido en 80% de propilenglicol. Los valores de MIC y CMM se determinaron por el método de microdilución en caldo, según el Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI), estándares M27-A2, con modificaciones. A continuación, se iniciaron las pruebas en biofilms monotípicos de 48 h, con cambio de caldo cada 24 h, de estos microorganismos. Después de someterse a tratamientos, la biopelícula se preparó para la prueba metabólica MTT. Resultados: Candida albicans presentó MMC a 50 mg / mL, en Candida glabrata no hubo MIC y MMC. En la prueba MTT los resultados mostraron efectividad de la concentración de 25 mg / mL en Candida glabrata, con una reducción de ≥ 29%, en Candida albicans no hubo resultados significativos en las concentraciones analizadas. Conclusión: El extracto tuvo un efecto antimicrobiano contra el género probado. Destacamos también la importancia de las pruebas in vitro e in vivo que corroboren los resultados presentados, con el fin de incrementar la base para la aplicación del extracto.
