Salud mental de los ancianos durante la distancia social por Covid-19

Resumen

Introducción: La pandemia del coronavirus asume implicaciones para el bienestar social y psicológico de la población mundial. Los adultos mayores pertenecen a los grupos más vulnerables a los efectos del distanciamiento social por varios factores, especialmente ante el miedo y la incertidumbre de la pandemia. Objetivo: Identificar los impactos psicológicos post-aislamiento en la población anciana. Métodos: Estudio descriptivo, transversal y observacional con 50 participantes mayores de 60 años de Londrina-PR. Se aplicaron cuestionarios de la Escala de Depresión Geriátrica 15 (GDS-15), Inventario de Ansiedad Geriátrica (GAI) y datos demográficos clínicos. Los análisis estadísticos se evaluaron utilizando modelos de regresión lineal y correlaciones bivariadas utilizando el coeficiente tau-b de Kendall. Resultados: Se observó que el 36% de la población estudiada tuvo puntaje superior al esperado en el GDS y GAI, los cuales fueron predichos por los relatos de momentos de tristeza y ansiedad (b=0.426; t=2.94; p=0.005) y por la disminución del contacto social (b=0,346; t=2,31; p=0,027), respectivamente, en ausencia de trastornos psicológicos previos. Conclusión: La incidencia de síntomas depresivos y ansiosos en este grupo de edad fue baja.
