COVID-19 y burnout: ¿cómo son los profesionales de cuidados intensivos?

Resumen

Objetivo: señalar aspectos del Burnout en profesionales de Cuidados Intensivos durante la pandemia de COVID-19. Metodología: se trata de una revisión integrativa de la literatura, elaborada de acuerdo con las instrucciones Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). La selección y el muestreo se realizaron a través de las bases de datos de la Biblioteca Virtual en Salud (BVS) y de la Biblioteca Nacional de Medicina (PubMed) y se utilizaron para buscar los siguientes descriptores: "burn out", "cuidados intensivos" y "COVID19". Resultados y Discusión: 7 estudios componen este artículo y sus hallazgos muestran la alta prevalencia de Burnout en todas sus dimensiones con alto riesgo en profesionales de Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos (UCI) en comparación con los que no trabajan en este sector, situación preocupante para el bienestar de los profesionales empleados en las UCI con la consecuente barrera para la atención de los pacientes e incluso el fuerte deseo de los profesionales de activar el área de salud. Consideraciones Finales: La sobrecarga y el agotamiento frente a uno nunca experimentado vino a reordenar el cambio repentino de salud y se hizo necesaria una mayor atención a estos profesionales, incluyendo la prevención y planificación de medidas que puedan minimizar o eliminar el tratamiento del Burnout en pacientes trabajadores de cuidados intensivos.
