Uso no médico de drogas psicotrópicas por estudiantes de pregrado: una revisión integradora

Las psicofármacos son medicamentos que, al actuar principalmente en el sistema nervioso central, alteran temporalmente el estado de ánimo, el comportamiento y la conciencia, siendo factores que corroboran su uso no médico, especialmente en las universidades. El objetivo de este estudio fue revisar la prevalencia del abuso psicotrópico por parte de los estudiantes y discutir posibles razones y consecuencias negativas. La encuesta bibliográfica se realizó a través de las plataformas PubMed y SciELO, de las cuales se seleccionaron 25 artículos tras el uso de los descriptores “psychotropic drugs AND students”, “anxiolytics AND students” e “anxiety AND depression AND students” y aplicación de criterios de inclusión y exclusión, de marzo a abril de 2021. A través del análisis de los artículos, se observó que la alta prevalencia de consumo no médico entre los estudiantes universitarios está marcada principalmente por el uso de depresores del sistema nervioso central, y el uso recreativo, la automedicación y la mejora del rendimiento académico son los objetivos enumerados. La relevancia del estudio se demostró al exponer las posibles consecuencias para la salud resultantes del uso abusivo, además de identificar el predominio del consumo por parte de las mujeres y la influencia de la carga del estudio como la razón principal para el inicio del uso no médico. En conclusión, es importante concienciar a los estudiantes sobre el consumo inadecuado de medicamentos recetados, dejando en claro los posibles impactos en la salud que pueden causar, y la importancia de lidiar con el estrés de una manera saludable.
