Efectos de la hidroterapia sobre el equilibrio en el anciano: Revisión sistemática

Resumen

Objetivo: Evaluar, a través de una revisión sistemática, los efectos de la hidroterapia en el equilibrio de los ancianos y sus implicaciones en el riesgo de caídas. Metodología: El presente estudio se realizó a través de una revisión sistemática, siguiendo las recomendaciones del Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). Las búsquedas se realizaron en las siguientes bases de datos: Cochrane, MEDLINE, PUBMED y PEDro. Resultados: En el proceso de identificación se encontraron 105 artículos científicos. De estos, 43 fueron excluidos por estar duplicados en las bases de datos, quedando 62 artículos para la etapa de selección, en la que 53 fueron excluidos por no adecuarse a los criterios determinados. De los 9 artículos seleccionados para el análisis, todos se consideraron adecuados y se incluyeron en el análisis. La mayoría de los artículos encontraron efectos positivos del uso de la hidroterapia sobre el equilibrio en los ancianos. Ya que las terapias realizadas en un medio acuático conducen a una mejora en la fuerza y ​​resistencia de los músculos de las extremidades, además de promover una mejora en la coordinación motora de los individuos. Conclusión: La fisioterapia acuática es eficaz para desarrollar resistencia, fuerza y, en consecuencia, aumentar el equilibrio en pacientes de edad avanzada.
