Resumen

Introducción: La odontología se ha destacado en el escenario mundial en la práctica de procedimientos y técnicas de rehabilitación, visando tanto la salud como la estética del individuo. En este contexto, la prótesis dental con tecnología de implantes ha tenido un avance significativo en las últimas cuatro décadas. Los avances en las técnicas quirúrgicas han proporcionado mejoras en los métodos de diagnóstico, el diseño de los implantes y la calidad de la superficie, así como una mejor comprensión de la biología de los tejidos relevantes. Así, el desarrollo de nuevas tecnologías ha ido subvencionando estudios de pasos quirúrgicos únicos y colocación de prótesis sobre implantes recién instalados. Objetivo: Discutir, a través de una revisión de la literatura, el uso de la técnica de carga inmediata sobre implantes únicos como alternativa de tratamiento para la rehabilitación oral. Metodología: Se realizaron búsquedas de literatura científica en las bases de datos PubMed, Scielo y Google Scholar, en el intervalo de tiempo entre 2004 y 2022. Discusión y Resultados: La alta estabilidad del implante inmediatamente después de la implantación juega un papel importante en la tasa de éxito del implante, permitiendo un protocolo de carga inmediata. Conclusión: La carga inmediata de implantes individuales parece ser una modalidad de tratamiento altamente predecible y muy exitosa. Sin embargo, se necesitan datos a largo plazo para confirmar estos resultados positivos.
