Terapias utilizadas en el tratamiento del estreñimiento intestinal primario

Resumen

El estreñimiento intestinal es una condición caracterizada por dificultad para defecar periódica y consistentemente, heces duras y sensación de que el recto no está completamente vacío, lo que lleva al paciente a buscar alternativas de alimentos y medicamentos para reducir o detener los síntomas. El estreñimiento puede ocurrir en hombres y mujeres de manera diferente, siendo las mujeres las más afectadas. El objetivo de este trabajo fue verificar alternativas de tratamiento y prevención del estreñimiento intestinal considerando el manejo dietético y nutricional como medio de prevención y tratamiento del estreñimiento funcional. El trabajo implicó una revisión de artículos científicos de los últimos 10 años y libros teóricos y buscó referencias e información que reunieran datos sobre el manejo dietético en la prevención y tratamiento del estreñimiento para complementar acciones que implementen propuestas de intervención dietética. El tratamiento del estreñimiento debe tener un enfoque individualizado, con estrategias de tratamiento específicas, sin dejar de lado el uso de medicamentos para controlar los síntomas de forma aislada. Los ajustes dietéticos con dietas equilibradas son estrategias que deben acompañar a las intervenciones y tratamientos para controlar el estreñimiento.
