Microbiota intestinal y depresión: Una revisión de alcance que explora las interacciones subyacentes al trastorno depresivo

Introducción: La comunicación intestino-cerebro juega un papel importante en la comprensión de la compleja etiología de la depresión, ofreciendo información sobre nuevas vías terapéuticas. Objetivo: El objetivo de esta revisión es evaluar el papel de la microbiota intestinal en casos de depresión. Metodología: Se realizó una revisión de literatura académica indexada en bases de datos nacionales e internacionales utilizando la metodología scoping review. Las fuentes de datos utilizadas incluyeron PubMed, Lilacs y Google Scholar. Para la búsqueda se utilizaron las palabras clave "Gut Microbiota" Y "Depression". Resultados: De los 975 artículos encontrados, 943 fueron excluidos por título y resumen, 18 artículos fueron excluidos luego de la lectura completa y 14 fueron incluidos. Conclusiones: Estos hallazgos sugieren que varios taxones y sus mecanismos de acción pueden desempeñar un papel en la fisiopatología de la depresión, involucrando la comunicación de la inflamación periférica con el cerebro.
