Uso de gafas de realidade virtual durante sedestación en pacientes COVID-19 ingresados en una Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos: Ensayo clínico aleatorizado

Resumen

Introducción: La hospitalización prolongada por COVID-19 genera alteraciones funcionales, de las cuales la movilización precoz con ayuda de realidad virtual (RV) recupera y alivia estas condiciones. Objetivo: Evaluar los efectos del uso de la RV inmersiva sobre el nivel de dolor, la duración de la sedestación junto a la cama y la movilidad de pacientes diagnosticados de COVID-19, hospitalizados en Unidades de Cuidados Intensivos (UCI). Métodos: Este estudio se llevó a cabo con pacientes diagnosticados de COVID-19 e ingresados en las UCI de adultos del Hospital Regional Universitario de Campos Gerais de la Universidad Estatal de Ponta Grossa. Los pacientes fueron divididos en dos grupos: realidad virtual - sedestación con gafas de realidad virtual, y el grupo de sedestácion junto a la cama - sin las gafas. Se midieron el dolor y la movilidad antes y después de la sedestación, así como el tiempo de permanencia en esta posición. Resultados: Se incluyeron 40 pacientes, 20 en el grupo de sedestación junto a la cama con una edad média de 53,55 años y 20 en el grupo de realidad virtual con una edad media de 50,7 años. Conclusión: El uso de RV en fisioterapia para pacientes de UCI, en una sola sesión, es seguro y condujo a un mayor tempo de permanencia en la sedestación, pero no afectó a la movilidad ni al control del dolor.
