Panorama epidemiológico del dengue en Bahía: Una década de datos (2014-2023)

Resumen

El dengue es una enfermedad viral que afecta principalmente a regiones tropicales y subtropicales, siendo Brasil uno de los países líderes en casos notificados. En el territorio brasileño, el estado de Bahía es uno de los más afectados, siendo el estado del Nordeste con el mayor número de casos reportados, lo que hace relevante los estudios epidemiológicos en la región, ya que dicho enfoque es esencial para la planificación de políticas públicas eficaces de control. En este contexto, el presente estudio tiene como objetivo trazar el perfil epidemiológico y de vulnerabilidad para el dengue en Bahía. Se trata de un estudio seccional, de carácter exploratorio, con un enfoque cuantitativo y retrospectivo, realizado entre los años 2014 y 2023. La base de datos para la fundamentación del trabajo proviene del Sistema de Información de Agravios de Notificación (SINAN) y los datos fueron analizados en GraphPad Prism. En el período analizado, se notificaron 417.515 casos probables de dengue en Bahía, con Salvador (52.685) e Itabuna (32.104) liderando las notificaciones. La investigación reveló una mayor incidencia en individuos del sexo femenino, pardos, con edades entre 20 y 39 años y con bajo nivel educativo. Además, se observó que el número de notificaciones de Salvador sigue las fluctuaciones de Bahía durante el período estudiado. En resumen, los datos refuerzan el carácter endémico del dengue en Bahía y la necesidad de la creación de políticas públicas dirigidas a individuos con un mayor perfil de vulnerabilidad.
