Perfil de las infecciones por hongos en el período pospandemia en un hospital de Campos Gerais

Introducción: Las infecciones relacionadas con la atención sanitaria causan problemas de salud pública en todo el planeta y los hongos han ido destacando cada vez más en este contexto, fundamentalmente tras la pandemia de COVID-19 y la alerta sobre la propagación de la especie Candida auris, potencialmente multirresistente. Objetivo: determinar el perfil de las infecciones fúngicas relacionadas con la atención sanitaria en el período pospandemia. Metodología: Se trata de un estudio transversal retrospectivo realizado mediante la recolección de datos de pacientes de historias clínicas electrónicas en un hospital del sur de Brasil. Resultados: La prevalencia de infecciones por hongos fue del 6%, mayor en el sexo femenino (68,5%), con una tasa de mortalidad del 74% y asociación con múltiples comorbilidades, dispositivos invasivos, terapia con antibióticos y corticoides. La especie destacada fue Candida albicans, que representó el 47,4% del total de infecciones, además de encontrarse un raro caso de infección por Saccharomyces cerevisiae y no aislarse ninguna cepa de Candida auris. El uso de antibióticos estuvo presente en el 93,2% de los pacientes, antifúngicos en el 30,1% y corticoides en el 38,4%. Conclusión: Las micosis relacionadas con la atención en salud se asociaron con el perfil de pacientes ancianos, la presencia de comorbilidades, la hospitalización en cama de unidad de cuidados intensivos y presentaron una alta tasa de mortalidad.
