Resumen

La alimentación natural se ha convertido en una alternativa cada vez más popular al pienso comercial entre los dueños de perros y gatos, ya que se asocia con varios beneficios para la salud intestinal de sus mascotas. Este tipo de dieta está compuesta por alimentos frescos, mínimamente procesados y, con frecuencia, crudos, con el objetivo de asemejarse a la alimentación que estos animales consumirían en un entorno natural. La salud intestinal es fundamental para el bienestar de los animales, ya que influye directamente en la digestión, la absorción de nutrientes y la respuesta inmunológica. Este estudio revisa la literatura científica existente sobre los efectos de la alimentación natural en la microbiota intestinal y la función gastrointestinal de perros y gatos. El análisis se centra en identificar patrones y tendencias entre los resultados de diferentes estudios, al mismo tiempo que destaca las lagunas de conocimiento y áreas que requieren más investigaciones. Los resultados buscan ayudar a los propietarios de mascotas y a los profesionales veterinarios a tomar decisiones nutricionales informadas, promoviendo una dieta más adecuada y saludable para las mascotas.
