La terapia con láser de baja potencia estimula la reparación de tejidos en la articulación temporomandibular de ratas obesas sometidas a movimientos de ortodoncia

Resumen

El objetivo del presente estudio fue evaluar los efectos de la terapia con láser de baja potencia sobre los cambios histológicos en la articulación temporomandibular causados por el movimiento dental inducido en ratas obesas. Se utilizaron cuarenta crías de rata Wistar macho, treinta crías recibieron inyecciones subcutáneas en la región cervical de 4g/kg/día de glutamato monosódico (animales obesos - MSG) durante los primeros cinco días de vida y diez recibieron inyecciones de solución salina hiperosmótica, 1. 25g/Kg/día (animales control - CTL). Se formaron cuatro grupos experimentales (n=10/grupo): Grupo 1: Control (CTL), ratas que no fueron sometidas a ningún procedimiento experimental; Grupo 2: ratas obesas sin movimiento dental inducido (MSG); Grupo 3: ratas obesas a las que se les realizó movimiento dental inducido (MDI) (MSG + MDI); Grupo 4: ratas obesas a las que se les realizó MDI y TLBP (MSG + MDI+ TLBP). A los 90 días se instaló el dispositivo de movimiento dental inducido (MDI) en los grupos 3 y 4. A los 91 días se inició el tratamiento con el láser de baja potencia. A los 97 días de experimento, los animales fueron pesados, medidos y sacrificados. Se extirparon, fijaron y procesaron para histología las articulaciones temporomandibulares (ATM) del lado derecho. Los animales del grupo obeso y tratados con terapia con láser de baja intensidad (MSG+MDI+TLBP) mostraron una reducción en el grosor del disco articular e hiperplasia y vascularización de la membrana sinovial de la ATM. Concluimos que la terapia con láser de baja intensidad es eficaz en el tratamiento de los cambios histológicos de la ATM causados por el movimiento ortodóncico en ratas con obesidad hipotalámica.
