Caracterización clínica y epidemiología de 1560 casos de COVID-19 en Macapá/AP, extremo norte de Brasil

Resumen

El nuevo coronavirus, llamado SARS-CoV-2, es un virus de ARN monocatenario. El principal mecanismo de entrada del virus en las células de los huéspedes es a través de la enzima convertidora de angiotensina 2 (ACE-2) que actúa como un receptor en las células epiteliales del tracto respiratorio superior. El objetivo de esta investigación fue describir el perfil epidemiológico de los afectados por COVID-19 en la ciudad de Macapá, además de calcular las tasas de mortalidad por grupo de edad, sexo y morbilidad previa. Se utilizó un análisis cuantitativo basado en casos confirmados de COVID-19 en el municipio de Macapá, con datos secundarios extraídos de la base de datos e información agregada del Departamento Municipal de Salud. El análisis del perfil epidemiológico de los afectados, la evolución y la gravedad de COVID-19 es importante para determinar y adaptar las estrategias de mitigación y permitir la planificación de acciones y atención médica para combatir el SARS-CoV-2 en Macapá.
