Resumen

Objetivo: Realizar una revisión bibliográfica sobre el uso de sustancias químicas utilizadas en el tratamiento de la hipersensibilidad a la dentina (HD), así como las particularidades relacionadas con el método propuesto. Metodología: Se realizó una búsqueda bibliográfica, a través de una búsqueda en la base de datos Medline (Medical Literature Analysis and Retrievel System Online) buscando estudios sin restricción de la fecha de publicación hasta junio de 2020, estos en inglés y que retratan el tema abordado. La búsqueda de la base de datos se llevó a cabo durante los meses de abril y mayo de 2020. Para la búsqueda, se utilizaron los siguientes descriptores: "dentin sensitivity", "hypersensitivity" and "dental care”.  Resultados: Los estudios muestran heterogeneidad con respecto a los métodos de tratamiento, incluyendo también la diversidad de sustancias utilizadas. Sin embargo, hay una dirección favorable en el uso del método químico, la combinación de agentes neuronales y obliteradores. Conclusión: Por lo tanto, el método químico presenta buenos resultados para el tratamiento de la EH, incluso con la ausencia de un protocolo clínico para el procedimiento. Cuando existe la combinación de agente neural con obliterador, se observan resultados superiores.
