Abordagem terapêutica da síndrome obstrutiva braquicefálica: revisão de literatura

A síndrome dos braquicéfalos em cães e gatos está diretamente ligada a processos obstrutivos que ocorrem em função de importantes deformidades anatômicas das vias aéreas anteriores comumente encontradas nesses animais. Essas alterações impactam as funções fisiológicas dos sistemas respiratório, cardiovascular digestório entre outros, comprometendo de forma relevante o bem-estar e a qualidade de vida desses animais. O presente trabalho visa apresentar uma revisão bibliográfica evidenciando o tratamento clínico e cirúrgico da síndrome braquicefálica, onde pôde-se concluir que apesar da gravidade desta doença existe a possibilidade de tratamento clínico e cirúrgico com indicação das correções das múltiplas alterações anatômicas obstrutivas, sendo o prognóstico favorável, especialmente para os cães que tiveram seu tratamento iniciado precocemente, melhorando de forma significativa o bem estar e qualidade de vida desses animais.
