Emocional and behavioral reactions in preoperative surgical patientes: na integrative review

Abstract

The objective of this study was to identify the main behavioral and emotional reactions manifested in surgical patients in the preoperative phase, since the subjective experience of the patient in this phase can have repercussions on the others. The present work is configured as an integrative literature review, with a search or sampling of literature in databases of electronic journals, using selected keywords in DECS (Descriptors in Health Sciences) and inclusion and exclusion criteria to select the most relevant articles on the subject. As a result, nine articles were included in this study, seven of the experimental type and two of the observational type, which brought as evidence two emotional and behavioral reactions more recurrent in the pre-surgical period: reactive anxiety and psychological-organic stress. In addition, the articles showed how the practices of psychoeducation and use of materials managed to reduce levels/scores of both physical (blood pressure, high cortisol) and psychological (anxiety, stress, fear) during the preoperative period. It was concluded that pronounced anxiety and stress can significantly interfere both in the preoperative stage and in postoperative recovery, being significant the intervention of the multidisciplinary team in the management and support to the surgical patient, being able to use resources ranging from preoperative communication and therapeutic listening as the use of materials to reduce and alleviate the deleterious effects of this stage.

Possui graduação em Psicologia pela Universidade Ceuma (2016); Pós-Graduada em Psicologia Hospitalar e da Saúde pela Universidade Cândido Mendes e Pós-Graduada em Neuropsicologia pela Faculdade Única; Se formou no Programa de Residência Multiprofissional em Saúde, na área de Clínicas Médica e Cirúrgica do Hospital Universitário do Maranhão da Faculdade Federal do Maranhão. Atuamente trabalha com ênfase na abordagem da Análise do Comportamento.

Valéria Christine Albuquerque de Sá Matos, Universidade Federal do Maranhão

Possui graduação em Enfermagem(2003) e Psicologia(2008) pela Universidade Federal do Maranhão. É especialista em Saúde da Família pela Universidade Gama Filho, em Saúde Mental pela Universidade Estácio de Sá, Saúde Materno-Infantil pela Universidade Federal do Maranhão e em Preceptoria em Saúde pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte. Mestra em Psicologia pela Universidade Federal do Maranhão-UFMA e doutora em Psicologia pela Universidad del Salvador em Buenos Aires, Argentina. Já atuou profissionalmente como enfermeira em ambulatório para tratamento de usuários de álcool e outras drogas pela Secretaria de Saúde do Estado; como enfermeira em uma equipe do Programa Saúde da Família no município de Rosário-MA; e atualmente, trabalha como enfermeira em uma equipe de Saúde da Família em São Luís-MA e como psicóloga na clínica cirúrgica, médica e UTI do Hospital Universitário Presidente Dutra.
