Resumo

Esta pesquisa aborda a questão: Quais desafios a mudança climática apresenta no campo da prática veterinária? Abordar esta questão é importante porque reflete uma conexão crítica na saúde animal e na sustentabilidade do meio ambiente. A revisão da literatura envolveu uma busca na coleção principal da Web of Science por publicações na interseção da mudança climática e da prática veterinária, e uma busca estendida no Google Scholar focada na América Latina, resultando em cerca de 400 manuscritos. A maioria da literatura está concentrada em países desenvolvidos, enquanto há uma escassez de pesquisas em países em desenvolvimento. O volume de manuscritos sobre este tema cresceu até 2021, mas desde então começou a declinar. As descobertas indicam uma necessidade urgente de pesquisa em países em desenvolvimento, mas também em formas de envolver a prática veterinária na administração da mudança climática. Além disso, recomenda-se a inclusão de material sobre mudança climática no currículo dos programas de veterinária. A futura pesquisa deve focar não apenas nos países em desenvolvimento, onde a economia depende em grande medida dos animais, mas também em explorar e promover maneiras de envolver a prática veterinária na administração responsável e proativa da mudança climática.
