Caracterização epidemiológica e tendência temporal da mortalidade por Epilepsia no Brasil durante os anos de 1999 a 2019

Resumo

A epilepsia é uma desordem neurológica caracterizada pela predisposição permanente do cérebro em gerar alterações comportamentais súbitas e crises epilépticas recorrentes. Estima-se que está perturbação neurológica afeta mais de 50 milhões de pessoas em todo o mundo, aparecendo entre as condições cerebrais mais comuns, com maiores incidências nos países em desenvolvimento, como é o caso do Brasil. Assim, o presente estudo tem como objetivo caracterizar o perfil epidemiológico e analisar a tendência temporal da mortalidade por epilepsia no Brasil entre os anos de 1999 a 2019. Para isso foi realizado uma categorização epidemiológica segundo variáveis sociodemográficas conforme o Departamento de Informática do Sistema Único de Saúde -DATASUS. Para analisar a tendência temporal, o modelo de regressão joinpoint foi aplicado como também foi calculado a variação percentual anual e seu respectivo intervalo de confiança IC95%. As regiões Sul e Centro-oeste apresentaram as maiores taxas de mortalidade, em contrapartida, as regiões do Nordeste e norte foram as menores. Para as características sociodemográficas, destacara-se o sexo masculino 65,12%, faixa etária ≥ 60 24,86%; pessoas brancas 46,36% e pessoas com escolaridade < 8 anos 35,01%. A análise da tendência temporal identificou um crescimento anual de 3,1% na taxa de mortalidade por epilepsia, onde o sexo feminino e as regiões norte e nordeste também apresentaram os maiores percentuais de aumento anuais da taxa de mortalidade. Problemas psicológicos, como depressão e ansiedade, condições sociais, falta de informação e tratamento farmacológico incorreto são fatores que impulsionam ao agravamento da epilepsia. Assim, o controle da mortalidade para epilepsia pode ser a eficácia de fatores sociais e saúde qualificada.
