Considerações a respeito do conhecimento sobre antibióticos em Endodontia de pacientes: Uma revisão narrativa

Gestão antimicrobiana dentária é importante nos esforços internacionais no combate a resistência aos antibióticos, portanto, de valor na implementação de estratégias de AMS em consultórios odontológicos e ambulatórios. O desenvolvimento de diretrizes da prescrição de antibióticos com descrição clara das indicações e facilidade de uso do regime é necessário. O objetivo do presente artigo é apresentar considerações em torno do conhecimento sobre prescrição de antibióticos em endodontia por meio de uma revisão narrativa realizada a partir de buscas em bases de dados PubMed e MedLine utilizando seguintes descritores: endodontia, pulpite irreversível, antibióticos, periodontite, abscesso apical, infecção. Foram incluídos artigos publicados 2015 e em períodos entre 2020 a 2024 escritos nas línguas inglesa e portuguesa. Os artigos selecionados após leitura do seu resumo e verificação da adequação foram adicionados ao conteúdo dessa revisão. A partir das considerações a respeito desta presente revisão é lícito concluir da necessidade de programas de educação continuada sobre uso de antibióticos, de diretrizes internacionais da profilaxia antibiótica, de erros na prescrição, de prescrição de antibióticos e melhor adequação da prescrição, de pacientes debilitados com risco de desenvolver endocardite bacteriana, de enfermidades crônicas que exige prescrição profilática antes ou durante o tratamento, da prescrição excessiva de antibióticos em casos de pulpites e outras indicações desnecessárias e prescrição de antibióticos apenas realizada nas condições de formação de edema generalizado, dentre outros.
