Abstract

Amazon is a region rich in biodiversity of fauna and flora where there are plant species that have the potential to produce drugs, cosmetics, compounds and food in general. Thus, Brazil nut (Bertholletia excelsa H.B.K) is established as a food source for people from this region. In addition, Brazil nut vegetable oil, extracted by various techniques, is studied based on its lipid and antioxidant potential. The work compares the methods of employees presented in the study objective of studies published in the Brazilian literature based on studies of chemical products published for the evaluation of this product, in addition to a review of large characteristic factors presented in data published in the Brazilian literature utility in industrial scope in the food, cosmetics and biofuels area, in order to add to the development of possible applications for Brazil nut oil. Therefore, the traditional methods of products (by solvent pressing and by products presented) are still more used in the industry because of their better yield and stable chemical characteristics, while alternative product methodologies, such as the use of green solvents, Solvents in supercritical and ultrasonic conditions of use have conditions that prevent the feasibility of large-scale uses.
