Technological advancement has transformed the way of accessing information, and digital tools appear as a satisfactory pedagogical strategy, promoting an interaction like that of a classroom, becoming extremely important for the introduction of new teaching methodologies. Although the majority of distance learning courses are in the area of social and applied sciences, those in semi-presential engineering have grown significantly. Regarding to engineering courses, audiovisual resources and distance learning guarantee a profound impact on the higher education system, with emphasis on efficiency and low economic cost. The study aimed to evaluate the influence of a didactic video on the teaching-learning process in a laboratory practice of science teaching given to an engineering class. The results showed that the video was well evaluated by the students, and contribute to learning, stimulating the realization of new practices by this method. The experience of preparing a video lesson was observed as an extremely important mechanism for the renewal of the school context.
