Estimulación transcraneal de corriente continua para la enfermedad de Alzheimer: una revisión sistemática

El objetivo del presente estudio fue evaluar los efectos de la Estimulación Transcraneal de Corriente Continua (ETCC) sobre la cognición, la funcionalidad y los síntomas conductuales y psicológicos en personas con EA. Esta es una revisión sistemática, realizada sobre la base del Registro Cochrane Central de Ensayos Controlados (CENTRAL), MEDLINE (PubMed), Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), PsycINFO, Scopus, Web of Science, Lilacs y Embase. El período de publicación del material utilizado en la presente revisión tuvo en cuenta los estudios publicados desde su inserción hasta septiembre de 2020. Como resultado, se encontraron 759 estudios, de los cuales 742 fueron retirados según los criterios de elegibilidad. Se eligieron 17 artículos para la lectura completa, de los cuales 8 fueron rechazados por no cumplir con los criterios de elegibilidad. Por lo tanto, se seleccionaron e incluyeron diez estudios para su análisis en esta revisión. La evidencia actual sugiere que ETCC es una terapia alternativa para pacientes com EA. Sin embargo, la recomendación de esta terapia debe realizarse con cautela, ya que los hallazgos encontrados en el presente estudio indican baja calidad de los estudios actuales, acompañados de datos que utilizan tamaños de muestra pequeños y problemas metodológicos, lo que sugiere que se necesitan más estudios para verificar eficacia clínica de ETCC en esta población.
