Efecto del sellador ionomérico en molares deciduos en erupción

Resumen

Objetivo: Verificar el efecto de los selladores ionoméricos en la prevención de caries oclusal en molares temporales en erupción. Materiales y métodos: Se realizó un estudio clínico longitudinal con niños de 1 a 3 años, en la ciudad de São Luiz do Paraitinga - SP, participantes del “Projeto Primeiro Sorriso”. El diseño experimental fue de boca dividida para 62 molares temporales sanos (1er y 2do molar), 31 en el grupo control (C) y 31 en el grupo sellador (S). Para ambos grupos se orientó el cepillado supervisado con dentífrico fluorado Oral-B Pro Saúde (1100 ppm de fluoruro), la profilaxis y el diagnóstico a través de ICDAS. Los dientes del grupo S se sellaron con cemento de ionómero de vidrio. Se realizaron reevaluaciones para los dos grupos después de 3, 6, 12 y 18 meses (T1, T2, T3 y T4) respectivamente, utilizando ICDAS e ICDAS CARS. Se realizó la prueba de chi-cuadrado y regresión de Cox con fragilidad compartida. Resultados: Los resultados para la progresión o no de la lesión de caries (%), respectivamente, fueron: Grupo C - T1, 46,8% y 53,2%; T2, 47,2% y 52,8%; T3, 48,5% y 51,5%; T4, 47,8% y 52,2%. Grupo S - T1, 66,7% y 33,3%; T2, 56,2% y 43,8%; T3, 52,6% y 47,4%; T4, 52,9% y 47,1%. Conclusión: No hubo diferencia entre los grupos en los tiempos de seguimiento y las variables relacionadas con los niños y los dientes, lo que sugiere que el sellado ionomérico tuvo el mismo efecto preventivo que el grupo control.
