Efeito do selante ionomérico em molares decíduos em irrupção

Resumo

Objetivo: Verificar o efeito de selantes ionoméricos na prevenção da cárie oclusal em molares decíduos em irrupção. Materiais e métodos: Foi realizado um estudo clínico longitudinal com crianças de 1 a 3 anos, na cidade de São Luiz do Paraitinga – SP, participantes do “Projeto Primeiro Sorriso”. O delineamento experimental foi de boca dividida para 62 molares decíduos hígidos (1º e 2º molares), 31 no grupo controle (C) e 31 no grupo selante (S). Para ambos os grupos foi orientada escovação supervisionada com dentifrício fluoretado Oral-B Pro Saúde (1100 ppm Flúor), profilaxia e diagnóstico por meio do ICDAS. Os dentes do grupo S foram selados com cimento de ionômero de vidro. As reavaliações para os dois grupos foram feitas após 3, 6, 12 e 18 meses (T1, T2, T3 e T4) respectivamente, por meio de ICDAS e ICDAS CARS. Realizou-se o teste qui-quadrado e regressão de Cox com fragilidade compartilhada. Resultados: Os resultados para progressão ou não de lesão cárie (%), respectivamente, foram: Grupo C - T1, 46,8% e 53,2%; T2, 47,2% e 52,8%; T3, 48,5% e 51,5%; T4, 47,8% e 52,2%. Grupo S - T1, 66,7% e 33,3%; T2, 56,2% e 43,8%; T3, 52,6% e 47,4%; T4, 52,9% e 47,1%. Conclusão: Não houve diferença entre grupos nos tempos de acompanhamento e as variáveis relacionadas às crianças e aos dentes, sugerindo que o selamento ionomérico apresentou o mesmo efeito preventivo que o grupo controle.
