Ozonoterapia en odontología: revisión sistemática de la literatura

Resumen

El objetivo de este estudio fue realizar una revisión sistemática para evaluar los efectos de la ozonoterapia en odontología. Las bases de datos utilizadas fueron Pubmed, Embase, Web of Science y OpenGrey. La palabra clave: “Ozono” combinada con una de las siguientes palabras clave: “Odontología”, “Dientes”, “Diente”, “Esmalte” y “Boca” se utilizaron para realizar la búsqueda, solo se incluyeron ensayos clínicos aleatorizados. Se utilizó la herramienta ROB2.0 para evaluar el riesgo de sesgo. Se incluyeron 36 artículos, 7 se clasificaron como de bajo riesgo de sesgo, 17 como de riesgo incierto y 12 como de alto riesgo. La mayoría de los artículos mostraron buenos resultados en las más diversas áreas de la odontología y el ozono mostró una amplia aplicabilidad, pero la gran cantidad de artículos clasificados como de alto riesgo de sesgo o riesgo incierto puede ser un factor limitante en la evidencia encontrada. La ozonoterapia mostró resultados satisfactorios en su aplicación en odontología, sin embargo, debido a la gran cantidad de artículos con alto o incierto riesgo de sesgo, nuestra evidencia es limitada. Se necesitan más ensayos clínicos aleatorios para evaluar los beneficios reales de la ozonoterapia en odontología.
