Application of lean in the restructuring of a skin care commission

The objective of this study was to report the application of Lean in the restructuring of the skin care commission in an oncology institution. Method: This is an experience report that systematically describes the methodological path for the restructuring of a skin care commission, developed in four stages. Results: The composition of the team and training of its members are presented from the perspective of Lean methodology; elaboration of the macro process of the patient's inflow into the institution; identification and prioritization of problems related to cancer patient skin care processes and application of Lean tools. Final considerations: The use of Lean improved communication between patients, families and nurses, in addition to improving care processes, from the identification of opportunities for improvement and application of Lean tools, making the stages of the processes free of waste, with greater added value for the patient.
