Impactos de la pandemia de COVID-19 en la salud mental de los adultos mayores: una revisión integradora

El objetivo de este estudio fue revisar la literatura sobre la identificación de los impactos en la salud mental de los adultos mayores en los diferentes aspectos inducidos por la pandemia de COVID-19. Revisión integrativa de la literatura, realizada a través de una estrategia de búsqueda en Literatura Latinoamericana y del Caribe en Ciencias de la Salud, Scopus y Web of Science, a través de los descriptores de salud “adultos mayores”, “salud mental” y “COVID-19”. Incluimos 17 estudios publicados a partir de 2020 que abordaron las repercusiones del aislamiento social en la salud mental de las personas mayores. El aislamiento social, efecto de la pandemia de la COVID-19, pudo afectar negativamente la calidad de vida de los ancianos, trayendo consecuencias en las condiciones de salud mental. Los síntomas depresivos y de ansiedad aumentaron durante la pandemia, reflejándose en situaciones de estrés, insomnio, miedo y soledad.
