La revascularización pulpar como alternativa a las terapias de apexificación comúnmente aplicadas a dientes jóvenes con raíces incompletas

Resumen

Ante casos en los que el elemento dentario se presenta con la raíz aún en formación, el odontólogo tiene algunas alternativas para inducir el cierre apical. El uso de técnicas de apexificación con MTA (agregado de trióxido mineral) e hidróxido de calcio se ha sugerido durante años, y el pronóstico al realizar esta terapia es muy prometedor. Por otro lado, los dientes que presentan paredes frágiles y una relación corona-raíz inadecuada, aun cuando se induzca el cierre apical, tienen un pronóstico dudoso, ya que no tendrá la estructura suficiente para soportar las fuerzas intrínsecas de la masticación. Con los problemas presentados, este estudio tuvo como objetivo presentar una revisión de la literatura que detalla la técnica de revascularización, así como citar un resumen de casos clínicos que prueban la efectividad de esta terapia para el tratamiento de dientes jóvenes que no presentan un desarrollo radicular completo. Para ello se realizaron búsquedas en la plataforma PubMed de estudios publicados desde el 2020 hasta el 2022 utilizando los términos en inglés: pulp, revascularization, case y report. A la vista de los resultados recogidos, la revascularización pulpar se presenta como una buena alternativa a los tratamientos convencionales de apexificación, debiendo realizarse principalmente en los casos en los que no se tiene el grosor y longitud radicular adecuados.
