Tecnologías de comunicación implementadas para la atención de pacientes críticos y no críticos: revisión del alcance

Resumen

Objetivo: analizar la evidencia científica disponible sobre el uso de las tecnologías de la comunicación para facilitar la interacción entre familiares y pacientes hospitalizados en UCI e ILP. Método: revisión de alcance, realizada según el modelo propuesto por el Instituto Joanna Briggs, a través de la revisión de las bases de datos: MEDLINE (PubMed), LILACS, EMBASE, CINAHL, SCOPUS, WEB OF SCIENCE y PSYCINFO. Todo tipo de diseño metodológico, publicado en inglés, español y portugués, que involucre tecnologías de comunicación en salud aplicadas a la atención de pacientes críticos y no críticos (por ejemplo: videollamadas, videoconferencias, etc.) de larga estancia. Resultados: se incluyeron 15 estudios que verificaron la videollamada como estrategia principal y los siguientes beneficios: mejora en la comunicación y vínculo entre médicos, pacientes y sus familias, disminución de la sedación, agitación, delirio, depresión, tiempo en coma y estancia en la UCI y los efectos negativos del aislamiento y la soledad. Conclusión: a pesar de la calidad metodológica variable de los estudios, el uso de las tecnologías de la comunicación en ambientes donde el paciente necesita estar aislado de su familia tiene beneficios, mayores que sus desventajas o limitaciones para la recuperación clínica de los pacientes.
