Uso oral del ácido tranexámico aplicado a hiperpigmentación: una revisión

Resumen

La hiperpigmentación cutánea, comúnmente llamada melisma, es una condición sin causa clara localizada en la cara y caracterizada por manchas irregulares con alto grado de vascularización, coloración marrón de alta intensidad, resultantes de la deposición de melanina derivada de la oxidación de la tirosina en los melanocitos localizados en la capa basal de la epidermis. Aunque afecta a ambos sexos, su ocurrencia es mayor en mujeres. Los análisis realizados indican que el ácido tranexámico se presenta como una opción para el cuidado del melisma, aunque los tratamientos disponibles no sean absolutamente efectivos. El objetivo de este artículo es relatar la acción del ácido tranexámico y sus vías de administración oral, con o sin otros medios de tratamiento. La metodología utilizada para el estudio es la revisión integrativa de estudios doble ciego. Se seleccionaron 86 artículos entre los años 2012 y 2022, los cuales se eligieron después de aplicar los criterios de exclusión e inclusión. Los resultados indican que el ácido tranexámico oral es efectivo y presenta bajos efectos secundarios, lo que favorece la adherenciade los pacientes al tratamiento. En conclusión, esta terapia puede ser una opción prometedora para el tratamiento del melisma.
