Investigación sobre la aplicación de la evaluación funcional conductual por profesionales brasileños

Resumen

El análisis de conducta aplicado enfatiza la importancia de realizar una evaluación funcional antes de desarrollar un tratamiento para las conductas problemáticas. Beavers et al. y también Hanley et al. (2003) establecen el Análisis Funcional como el procedimiento de evaluación funcional estándar de oro en el tratamiento de conductas problemáticas graves. Sin embargo, hay poca información sobre cómo los profesionales utilizan la evaluación funcional en entornos aplicados a personas con o sin retrasos en el desarrollo. El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo replicar el estudio de Roscoe et al. y comprender cómo se implementan las evaluaciones funcionales en instituciones que atienden a personas con desarrollo atípico en Brasil. En total, 103 participantes completaron los formularios, pero sólo el 25,2% informó haber utilizado el análisis funcional más que una evaluación descriptiva e indirecta para informar un plan de intervención para conductas problemáticas, aunque el 79,6% informó que el análisis funcional es necesario para informar el tratamiento de conductas problemáticas. Concluimos que existe una evolución desde que Roscoe et al., al menos en relación con la comprensión de lo que más se necesita. Aún así, no vemos muchas mejoras en la práctica con la aplicación del análisis funcional para tratar problemas de conducta.
