Impacto da periodontite na qualidade de vida de pacientes obesos: uma revisão sistemática

Introdução: A obesidade é uma doença crônica e tem sido associada com a doença periodontal. Esta se caracteriza por uma inflamação crônica subclínica que pode exacerbar outras doenças inflamatórias crônicas como a periodontite. Objetivo: Foi avaliar se as doenças periodontais impactam na qualidade de vida relacionada à saúde bucal dos pacientes obesos. Materiais e métodos: Esta revisão sistemática seguiu as diretrizes do National Health Service Center for Reviews and Dissemination (NHS, 2001) e itens de relatório preferidos para revisões sistemáticas e meta-análises (PRISMA). Foi realizada uma busca bibliográfica nas bases de dados PubMed, Scopus e Embase. Os critérios de elegibilidade foram definidos em relação aos participantes, intervenções, comparações, resultados e desenho do estudo (PICOS), seguindo o PRISMA. Resultados: Esta busca foi classificada em Fase I: onde foi feita a busca que resultou em um total de 44 artigos. Após a leitura dos títulos e resumos e levando em consideração os critérios de inclusão foram descartados um total de 24. Um total de 6 artigos foram estudados dos quais restaram 5 artigos para análise final (Fase II). Conclusão: A qualidade de vida de pacientes obesos foi impactada pela relação entre periodontite e dieta. Os fatores de risco que agravam a doença periodontal e a obesidade devem ser mais bem esclarecidos quando relacionadas a qualidade de vida. Futuros estudos de longo prazo, deverão ser conduzidos relacionando doença periodontal e qualidade de vida em obesos, para explorar mediadores de mudanças na qualidade vida e interações com outras variáveis, como comorbidades e imagem corporal.
