Ajuste oclusal em prótese dentária: uma revisão bibliográfica

As próteses dentárias são responsáveis por reestabelecer a ausência de elementos dentários. O ajuste oclusal é uma fase crucial dentro do tratamento reabilitador, onde ocorre a modificação da superfície oclusal através de desgaste seletivo ou acréscimo de material. O ajuste oclusal deve ser compreendido pelos profissionais, pois há evidências de efeitos negativos da ausência de um esquema oclusal adequado e equilibrado. O objetivo desse estudo foi realizar uma revisão bibliográfica sobre os princípios oclusais de acordo com a prótese utilizada, abordando os conceitos de oclusão indispensáveis para uma boa reabilitação oral. Os movimentos mandibulares são guiados pelos dentes, e a prótese deve mimetizar a morfologia dental e restaurar a função perdida, através de guias de desoclusão e da correta distribuição dos contatos dentários. As evidências cientificas devem orientar o melhor ajuste para cada tipo de prótese. Cabe ao cirurgião-dentista diagnosticar a desarmonia oclusal e através do trabalho protético devolver o equilíbrio oclusal e a saúde aos componentes do sistema mastigatório.
