Impactos da pandemia da COVID-19 no tratamento contra o câncer de mama: quimioterapia e terapia endócrina

Resumo

Esse trabalho tem como objetivo analisar as mudanças na administração de quimioterapia e terapia endócrina no tratamento do câncer de mama decorrente dos novos protocolos criados durante a pandemia da COVID-19. Foi realizada uma revisão sistemática da literatura com busca na base de dados PubMed. Foram incluídos estudos que analisaram os novos protocolos no tratamento do câncer de mama e discutiram suas funcionalidades, como também aqueles que observaram as intervenções individuais realizadas por profissionais de saúde durante a pandemia da COVID-19. A busca sistemática totalizou 363 artigos e 41 preencheram todos os critérios de inclusão, que envolvem palavras-chave, tempo estipulado e banco de dados, e não envolvem limite de línguas. Os artigos descartados incluíam relatos de caso, conteúdos sobre cirurgias oncológicas, outros tipos de câncer e tratamentos e aspectos emocionais e psicossociais de médicos e pacientes. A maioria dos estudos apresentou adaptações nos tratamento do câncer de mama durante a pandemia, visto que os profissionais de saúde notaram a necessidade de evitar a ida dos pacientes aos hospitais e sua permanência no local por grande período de tempo, prevenindo, dessa forma, o contágio pelo Sars-CoV-2. O princípio fundamental das escolhas foi analisar vantagens e desvantagens de cada terapia e preferir tratamentos de menor risco de infecção e mielossupressão, em casos de opções com eficácia semelhante. Ao explorar as diferentes experiências presenciadas por cada autor é possível notar o avanço científico e as descobertas que esse período de pandemia trouxeram à sociedade médica, assim como o legado que deixará.
