Resumo

Melasma is a common dermatosis resulting from melanocytic hyperactivity, generating hyperpigmentation characterized by symmetrical spots. The treatments available for whitening are the use of electrotherapies, topical medications and Nutricosmetics. The Nutricosmetics is an oral supplement that has the function of nourishing the body with vitamin concentrates and other actives, such as nutrients and antioxidants that treat "from the inside out", as well as vitamin C, which acts by inhibiting melanogenesis, resulting in whitening. Of blemishes on the skin and in the protection of collagen synthesis; Polypodium leucotomos, which provides some degree of protection against the harmful effects of UV radiation, helps to minimize the photo aging effects of sunlight, including hyperpigmentation and textural changes. It has antioxidant property, fighting free radicals responsible for sun damage, preventing premature aging. Therefore, the present study aims to analyze the effects of Nutricosmetics in the treatment of melasma. An integrative literature review was carried out, through research on scientific articles in Portuguese and in English in the LILACS, Dialnet, Medline and Scielo databases, using the descriptors melasma, melanose and antioxidants, published in the years 2002 to 2020. The results of this study showed a positive effect in the association between topical and Nutricosmetics treatment in melasma, in which they are able to provide a guarantee regarding the photo protective and antioxidant action.
