Benefícios do tratamento ortodôntico em pacientes com periodonto reduzido: Uma revisão abrangente da literatura

Resumo

O objetivo deste artigo é revisar a literatura sobre os benefícios do tratamento ortodôntico em pacientes com periodonto reduzido. Portanto, a metodologia empregada foi uma busca de artigos científicos no PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect e Cochrane de 2019 a 2024 com termos MeSH, DeCs e terminologia aberta. Além disso, os critérios de elegibilidade foram adequados para este estudo. Isso resultou em 876, dos quais 18 foram escolhidos para esta revisão, sendo em sua maioria estudos de coorte, além de incluir análise de elementos finitos, revisões sistemáticas com meta-análise, estudos transversais prospectivos, ensaio clínico randomizado, revisão de literatura e um estudo longitudinal. Em conclusão, o tratamento ortodôntico permite o ganho de CAL e a redução da PPD. Além disso, o alinhamento dentário permite fácil acesso à higiene, alterando assim o curso da doença periodontal. No caso da recessão gengival, a literatura não explica claramente os benefícios que a ortodontia pode trazer, um assunto que permanece aberto para pesquisas futuras.
