Protocolos de irrigación final en endodoncia: Una revisión narrativa

Resumen

Este estudio es una revisión narrativa de la literatura cuyo objetivo es analizar los diferentes protocolos de irrigación final utilizados actualmente en endodoncia, destacando sus características, ventajas y limitaciones. Se trata de una revisión cualitativa, retrospectiva y descriptiva, realizada mediante búsquedas en las bases de datos PubMed, LILACS y SciELO, con artículos publicados en portugués e inglés. Se identificaron y compararon siete técnicas de irrigación: Irrigación Convencional (IC), Activación Dinámica Manual (MDA), Irrigación Ultrasónica Pasiva (PUI), Irrigación Ultrasónica Continua (CUI), Activación EasyClean (ECA), XP Endo Finisher e Irrigación Sónica. La IC presentó limitaciones en la eliminación de la capa de frotis y en la desinfección completa de los conductos. La MDA, aunque eficaz, puede provocar compactación de residuos. Las técnicas ultrasónicas mostraron gran eficacia, pero con riesgo potencial de dañar los tejidos. La irrigación sónica y la activación EasyClean se destacaron por su eficiencia y menor riesgo para los tejidos periapicales. Se concluye que ECA y XP Endo Finisher son alternativas prometedoras, siendo la elección técnica dependiente del caso clínico. La actualización constante mediante estudios clínicos es esencial para el avance de la endodoncia y la seguridad del paciente. La colaboración entre investigadores, clínicos y fabricantes es fundamental para su evolución continua.
