Relação entre a qualidade de sono e o rendimento acadêmico dos estudantes de medicina: revisão sistemática

Resumo

Introdução: A má qualidade do sono está associada com diversos problemas físicos, psicológicos e cognitivos. Considerando o excesso de carga acadêmica e horas de estudo, expectativas familiares e ao ambiente competitivo, os estudantes de medicina são especialmente vulneráveis aos problemas do sono e suas consequências. Objetivo: Realizar uma revisão bibliográfica de estudos transversais acerca da relação entre a qualidade de sono e o rendimento acadêmico de estudantes de medicina. Metodologia: Revisão sistemática de estudos transversais publicados nos últimos 5 anos, visando responder à pergunta: "Qual a relação entre a qualidade de sono e o rendimento acadêmico dos estudantes de medicina?”. Resultados: A partir dos critérios de inclusão e exclusão, foram selecionados 12 artigos, sendo que 10 apontam correlação entre má qualidade de sono e baixo rendimento acadêmico. Discussão: Entende-se que o sono é essencial para funções cognitivas e consolidação da memória. Logo, a maioria dos estudos afirmaram que a má qualidade do sono pode impactar o desempenho acadêmico dos estudantes de medicina. Conclusão: O pior desempenho acadêmico está estatisticamente associado à má qualidade do sono. Apesar de outras variáveis, ficou claro o impacto maior da variável sono sobre a atividade acadêmica. Assim, são necessárias mudanças que visem melhorar o sono e bem-estar dos estudantes de medicina.
